Steve Sorensen, our guest speaker, grew up in rural Pennsylvania and desperately wanted to start hunting with his father when he was six years old. However, he had to wait six more years (another lifetime in his eyes) before he could carry a rifle in the woods. Eventually, he grew up to become an award-winning writer.
Steve writes
“The Everyday Hunter,” a three-time winner of “Best Newspaper Column” in Pennsylvania (from the Pennsylvania Outdoor Writers Association). In 2015 Steve won the National “Pinnacle” award for outdoor writing. Steve’s work has appeared in several newspapers, and he writes regularly for Ohio Valley Outdoors. Sorensen’s work has appeared in a variety of National Magazines including Deer & Deer Hunting, Sports Afield, Outdoor Life, North American Whitetail, Bear Hunters Online, and others. Sorensen’s columns and many of his magazine articles can be viewed at

Program 2: “Double Trouble in Alaska” - Features engaging slides and video that tell the story of how two rookies accomplished a highly successful do-it-yourself moose hunting adventure in remote Alaska, which was chronicled in two leading National Outdoor magazines.
Steve is also a Turkey Call maker. Come and learn the techniques that he uses to lure in the Big Tom’s. He’ll have the Turkey Call that he designed for sale on the night of the event.
